Keeping the wardrobe in order is hard work! English/Deutsch/italiano

Some weeks ago I had the not so very good idea to re-organize all my wardrobe, in order to find immediately every piece I need to combine the outfits for my posts. In pre-blog days I've accustomed to the bad habit of putting on only some very comfortable pieces, especially in winter, so I had no clue where anything was.
Thought it would last three days, instead I'm still here with lots of items I don't know where to put outside. But the shelves are in a fair order, so it's the right moment for taking pictures. No guarantee for tomorrow ;-)

The top picture isn't the typical example, though - made it some months ago for Instagram, and it took me three hours to put in order some shelves only...

All the boots I'm using currently I collocated at the bottom of the library in the entrance room (the part without glass windows), the shoes I stored in boxes in my son's room (since he's away for study I've occupied the entire room,  liberating the bed when he's on visit. Being a good son to a bad mother he doesn't mind :))). Every box carries a post-it with type and color of each pair.
It has always been my dream to have a Polaroid picture on the respective box, like sometimes can be seen in fashion magazines, even bought a Polaroid camera at the end-of-line sales, which came with a ten-picture-kit. The calculation of the actual costs I only did afterwards - it was like a new pair of branded shoes.....
As soon as I find someone willing to stamp them, I'll take pictures with my phone :))

  2. Rosa I feel you here. It's hard hard work. I tried the label thingy with my shoe boxes, to no avail. It took me ages to find some heels, now they are in a clear shoe closet, hope you know what I mean. Yeah I know I have too many shoes, lol. But I am not the only one, right ;)

  12. OMG, that wardrobe looks so FUN!!! I can't show pictures of mine, it is SUCH a mess right now!! lol.

Anyway, in response to your comment on my blog: It’s so crazy you say that.. my husband and I WANT to get stationed in Italy, and there are a lot of places there where his job is needed, so we very easily COULD move there! The only thing, the Navy recently implemented a rule, that if you have kids under the age of 2, they WON’T send you overseas! We’re still working on our little family, so we won’t be able to move to Italy for at least 4 to 5 more years… but maybe someday!! And I would be tickled pink to meet you! <3 - www.domesticgeekgirl.com

  33. Hi Rosa! It seems like you had a lot of work with so many clothes! Wow, I wish my wardrobe was that organized! Sadly, I have to share mine with my boyfriend, so I need to save space as much as possible. Do you have any tips for staying organized with little space?

And I must say, I'm impressed with the amount of your shoes :) When I saw the picture, my first thought was that you needed a separate room to store them all, can't imagine how you managed to do this before your son left for study! :)

    1. :))) Joanna, nor do I. Or better - had everything in boxes everywhere. As you maybe already understood, I'm addicted to charity and flea markets, and with some care you can find shoes there as well. Lots of women buy them in the heat of the moment in sizes that aren't theirs ;-))) (uhmmm, me too, but at least I don't spend that much money on them).
I use to put more than one thing on the hangers, either of the same type or color, or I already put together outfits and hang them on the doors - for me it's a nice decoration, for my husband a little bit less.....
In shoe boxes very often fit more than one pair, so if it's labelled it's ok, can be found quickly. Used to keep one bag in the other when I had less space, but then I never found the smaller ones and had to take out everything, becoming nervous :)))))
      Rosa

    2. Haha, I understand, it's the same with sales - when I see something I like, size doesn't matter that much - because it's such a great deal :) And then I end up selling stuff on the internet! Haha

It's a good idea with hangers - I usually put more than one thing, but it's kind of random, so I have trouble finding the stuff underneath. I'll try doing this according to colors, as you say :) And I also need to label the shoe boxes!

  52. Hello Rosa! You have inspired me to take the day off from work tomorrow to organize and redo my entire closet. I will admit that because of my current disorganization, I keep wearing the same stuff over and over and the majority of the times I can't seem to figure out what to wear. It is actually pretty sad. Organizing my closet was one of my new year's resolutions and it is already February and I haven't started doing it at all. It is actually funny but I also considered using my daughter's room (she is also away at college) to store some of my stuff but she specifically told me before she left not do it. Who she think she is!!! LOL Your closet organization project turned out amazing. Using pictures for your shoe boxes sounds pretty good. Have an amazing week Rosa and thanks so much for sharing. I have it in my room and it is actually on the way all the time (kind of annoying!) and I can't believe I didn't think about moving it to my daughter's room before!!! Thanks so much for the suggestion. She comes home once a month or every six weeks and then for the entire summer. I seriously need to work on my closet soon. Will keep you posted!
